Piggyback Forklift Trucks: A Useful Tool for Heavy Material Moving
Piggyback forklift trucks are an important piece of your operation if your business is in the business of moving heavy and oversized materials. The features and capabilities of piggyback forklift trucks allow them to do jobs that a typical forklift would not be able to do properly and lifts and transports the materials correctly.
Piggyback forklift trucks can be used in a multitude of different areas and in a mix of different situations. They are used in various industries, such as construction sites, steel and metal manufacturing, shipping and ports, warehousing, etc. Operators can use piggyback forklift trucks to lift heavy mechanical equipment or large metal materials (usually at ground level), transport and load or unload shipping containers and freight container cargo, and move and store inventory which maximizes usage of space within warehouse environments.
When operating piggyback forklift trucks, there are some basic operating processes that, if followed, can improve the safety of the operation and overall efficiency. The first step, which is very important, is the inspection. When doing an inspection of the piggyback forklift truck, you will want to check things such as tire pressure; oil level; maintenance and condition of forks and lift mast; etc.. The second step is that, when handling materials and engaging loads, you need to approach the materials slowly while keeping the piggyback elevator level. As tempting as it may be to get it done quickly, once you reach the load area for the item you are lifting, make sure that the forks are fully under the material load and keep the center of gravity in mind. Before actually lifting the load and raising to a safe position, consider making sure that every action follows the safe operating procedures that you are!
